In order to provide the highest quaility education to investigators across the country, The CDITC has developed and made available The Component Method course of study as a distance learning program.

The Component Method has been adopted as the basic philosophy and methodology for training and education of criminal defense investigators. We believe that by establishing a standard we are able to promote a sense of unification within the discipline. The completion of a training program certifying the investigator in the Component Method is a requirement for CDITC Board Certification. Applicants seeking to become a Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator must successfully complete an accredited course of study in the Component Method. This distance program is fully accredited by the CDITC and is equal to a forty (40) hour course of study in accordance with the Board Certification requirement.

PARTNER: BOSTON UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL INVESTIGATION PROGRAM:

The Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council has partnered with Boston University to provide members with a higher learning opportunity. This program of study was developed in part utilizing the Component Method and CDITC Advisory Board members. Boston University's list of required textbooks for this program includes Uncovering Reasonable Doubt: The Component Method. The CDITC is proud to be an integral part of this prestigious program of Study at Boston University. The CDITC has endorsed this program as meeting the educational requirements leading to the designation as a Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator, and the designation of CCDI. In addition, the Boston University program provides those seeking a higher level of education a cost effective way of earning a Certificate in Professional Investigation from one of the world's most prestigious universities. The program director, Thomas Shamshak, is a CDITC Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator and member of the CDITC Advisory Counsel.
